Roots in Two Cities

Originally from Los Angeles, Miguel moved to San Diego at the age of 13. Both cities have their charms, but as a teenager he found San Diego easier to navigate, and living closer to the ocean didn’t hurt. That early connection to the city’s neighborhoods and coastline would eventually shape the foundation of his real estate career.

From Appraisals to Private Equity to Brokerage

After building a strong foundation in property valuation, Miguel spent five years in private equity, deploying capital across multiple West Coast markets. It was during this period that the idea of launching a boutique brokerage began to take shape. The combination of hands-on appraisal work and institutional investment experience gave him a rare perspective: the ability to evaluate property at a granular level while understanding the broader forces that drive real estate markets.

Why Juniper

Miguel founded Juniper Real Estate Company in 2015 while living in North Park. At the time, he regularly ran, hiked, and walked through both Juniper Canyon in South Park and nearby Switzer Canyon. Juniper trees are native to San Diego and thrive in its semi-arid climate, a fitting symbol for a brokerage rooted in the local landscape. Miguel is drawn to the twisting, wind-swept silhouette of the Hollywood Juniper and has a particular appreciation for the Nana Juniper, a species commonly used in Japanese bonsai.

Over the years, Miguel has represented clients in nearly every San Diego neighborhood. His primary focus is the Metropolitan District and surrounding communities, including North Park, South Park, Bankers Hill, University Heights, Hillcrest, Mission Hills, Mission Valley, Little Italy, Downtown, Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Allied Gardens, the College Area, La Mesa, and Mt. Helix.
